A very moving church service last Sunday prompted a lot of emotion within me. As the congregation gathered around a beautiful baby girl and prayed for healing we sang the beautiful words to the song in worship “here I am to worship, here I am to bow down, here I am to say that your my God…I’ll never know how much it cost to see my sins upon that cross.”
It was Mother’s Day. I often become overwhelmed with the responsibilities of being a mother. Not just a mother, a full time job in itself, but also a working mother with a full time job. And often times my kids have to deal with my stress in ways that I am not proud.
So I take this time to reflect and try to remember how innocent they are. As I layed my hand on the mother of that baby girl my prayer was simple: “Please let this mother experience the frustrations of being mom.”
Doesn’t that sound weird? Maybe. But this mother brought her baby to church for annointing. She was expressing her faith and declaring that God is capable of fixing anything. I just pray that it is His will that she be healed and that young mother can experience what I often take for granted.
Now, I hope you’ll forget the dishes or the laundry or whatever else preoccupies your mind and go spend some quality time with the ones that matter the most to you. I know it’s cliche, but life is short and I hope we can all just learn to slow down and take it in!
